The PTC’s regular review of the bus operators’ operating performance and service provision showed that in the 6-month review period from 1 June to 30 November 2011, both SBS Transit Ltd and SMRT Buses Ltd had generally met the QoS standards, but they also had some instances of non-compliance.

Third-year Graciousness on Public Transport Programme Encourages Ground-up Expressions
The Public Transport Council (PTC) rides on previous years’ efforts to encourage gracious behaviour in commuters when traveling on public transport. This year’s programme is titled “Make it Right for a Better Ride!” and aims to encourage participation and expressions from the public. Come 23 February, public transport users will see posters carrying gracious commuting messages (penned by fellow commuters) being displayed at MRT stations, bus shelters, in trains and buses.

Bus Operators fined for some instances of breach of Quality of Service (QoS) Standards for the 6-month Period, December 2010 to May 2011
In PTC’s latest regular review of the public transport operators’ operating performance and service provision, the bus operators had largely met the Quality of Service (QoS) standards set for basic bus services. SBS Transit and SMRT Buses were fined S$700 and S$300 respectively for some instances of non-compliance with the QoS standards. For full details, please refer to the press release.

Net fare adjustments went down, not up: Transport council
Eugene Tan, Secretary, Public Transport Council (PTC) clarified on the fare formula and said that the PTC is guided by the fare review mechanism adopted since 2005 and revised in 2008 to take into account the higher productivity gains by the two public transport operators when evaluating fare applications. He also said that nominal wage data should be used instead of real wage data for comparisons.
